Lando Norris held off a determined challenge from teammate Oscar Piastri to claim victory at the Austrian Grand Prix, leading a commanding McLaren one-two.

The win marks Norris’ third of the season and narrows his championship gap to Piastri to just 15 points heading into the British Grand Prix.

The McLarens were in a league of their own, with Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc finishing a distant third, 17 seconds behind Norris, and Lewis Hamilton in fourth.

Mercedes’ George Russell came fifth, while Red Bull’s Max Verstappen was eliminated on the opening lap after a collision with Mercedes rookie Kimi Antonelli, who later received a grid penalty for the British race.

The race saw intense intra-team battling, with Piastri momentarily taking the lead but unable to hold off Norris, who regained control and maintained a steady pace through the final stint.

Despite a damaged front wing and late pressure, Norris held on, while Piastri survived a near-off after being forced onto the grass by Alpine’s Franco Colapinto, who was penalized for the move.

Elsewhere, Leclerc and Hamilton had uneventful runs, while Russell enjoyed a lonely fifth.

Racing Bulls’ Liam Lawson and Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso executed strong one-stop strategies to finish sixth and seventh respectively.

Alonso briefly lost ground to Sauber’s Gabriel Bortoleto but retook the spot in the final laps, with Bortoleto securing his first F1 points in eighth.

Nico Hulkenberg (Sauber) and Esteban Ocon (Haas) rounded out the top ten.

It was a miserable outing for Red Bull on home soil, capped off by Yuki Tsunoda’s 10-second penalty and last-place classification after a collision with Colapinto.
