Olufemi Soneye has resigned from his position as Chief Corporate Communications Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd), ending his 20-month tenure overseeing the company’s communications strategy.

In a farewell message to colleagues and stakeholders, Soneye expressed appreciation for the support he received while leading NNPC’s public relations efforts.

He described his time at the national oil firm as both fulfilling and professionally rewarding.

“I am grateful for the support, professionalism, and collaboration extended to me during this period.

“Working with a dedicated team to advance the image and communication goals of NNPC Ltd has been an invaluable experience,” he said.

Soneye explained that his decision to step down was driven by personal considerations, including the need to spend more time with family and attend to responsibilities requiring his direct involvement.

“This decision will allow me to devote more time to my family and attend to personal responsibilities that now require my closer presence,” he noted.

He also acknowledged the trust placed in him by NNPC Ltd and said he was thankful for the opportunity to work with a wide range of professionals both within and outside the organisation.

Although leaving his official role, Soneye pledged continued support for NNPC’s mission and encouraged media professionals to maintain responsible reporting on the company’s activities.

“I remain a committed supporter and ambassador of NNPC Ltd wherever I go,” he said.

As of the time of reporting, NNPC Ltd has not yet announced who will replace him.
