Triple Recognition for FCT Health Secretary Fasawe
Dr. Adedolapo Fasawe, Mandate Secretary of the Federal Capital Territory’s Health Services and Environment Secretariat, has been honoured with three separate awards in recognition of her work across public health, environmental management, and climate action.
The first recognition came from the Pest Control Association of Nigeria during its annual conference in Lagos, where Dr. Fasawe was named ‘Amazon of Environmental Health’ for her contributions to pest control and environmental health policy.
She was later honoured at the Nigeria Silent Heroes Awards (NSHA) in Abuja with the ‘Silent Hero in Healthcare Delivery’ award, acknowledging her behind-the-scenes efforts in strengthening health systems and services across the FCT.

The most recent award came from the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) (formerly University of Ife), her alma mater, during the 2025 International Conference of the Faculty of Social Sciences.
She received an Award of Excellence in Climate Action, highlighting her policy-level work in integrating climate resilience into public health planning.
According to a statement by her media adviser, Bola Ajao, the recognitions point to a growing appreciation of Fasawe’s integrated approach to governance, linking health outcomes with environmental and climate challenges.
The OAU conference, themed ‘Accelerating Climate Action for Sustainable Livelihoods in Nigeria’, was attended by key government and academic figures.
Speakers highlighted the urgency of climate adaptation policies and commended Fasawe’s efforts as a case study in practical governance.
In her remarks, Dr. Fasawe acknowledged the support of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, attributing the Secretariat’s performance to the enabling policy environment under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
